Tour de France 101

I've been receiving a lot of questions about the Tour de France (TdF) -- and for good reason! Team Astana and Lance Armstrong are doing a remarkable job. Even more impressive is the fact that Lance is out there and "it's not about the bike." He's racing the TdF to raise awareness about the global epidemic of cancer. It's not about the press -- it's about YOU.

There are two great places to go if you're looking for TdF 101 *hints*, along with exclusive videos/twitter/blogs/pictures of Lance and team.

  1. Hi Julie! First I just wanted to thank you for putting yourself out there like this. I am a young adult cancer patient myself (going back into treatment at the end of the month, actually), and I understand a lot of what is going on in all aspects of pre- and post-treatment. And your profile is amazing. I am working towards a PMP myself and work for the Cedars Cancer Institute (www.cedars.ca). If you ever feel like moving to Montreal, we could use someone like you!

Did you know that Lance is coming to the Montreal area in September? He's leading a Tour de Lance on the 11th to raise funds for three key pieces of equipment for diagnosing and treating childhood brain tumours, breast and prostate cancers. If you know anyone that wants to ride with him, or just watch, direct them to www.tourdelance.ca for details.

    Thanks again, Julie!

  2. Alston,
I apologize for my delayed reply. It's been so busy with the TdF, full time work and treatments! But, I love it all (ok, except for the treatments...LOL).

I was not aware Lance was coming to Montreal in September. That's very exciting, and I will definitely pass on the information. Please keep me posted on this event!

It's always great to meet (even if online) folks from all over the world. I'm working on a major fundraiser at the moment to raise awareness and funds to support cancer centers and non-profits. I'll blog about it soon!

Take care -- and feel free to email me anytime at: curesrock [at] gmail.com

    Thanks!
    Julie

Lance Armstrong's "Tour de France" Dedication to Julie

A great reminder that I had armies of support beside me in my fight. (Thanks, Lance!) Even with the recent media, this video isn't about the bike...but the fight against cancer. LIVESTRONG!
